Quebec City - Where The River Narrows

Quebec City lies on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River and is located just three hours on the east side of Montreal. Quebec City claims to be the second-oldest existing European settlement in Canada. Quebec City has an aboriginal meaning “where the river narrows.” It was first settled by the Europeans in 1608 and in the year 2008, it will be celebrating its 400th birthday. Founded by Samuel de Champlain, the French established it as a New World.

The historic city of Quebec City is divided into Upper Town and Lower Town. On the top of the old quarter is the Cap-Diamant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
